American actress/model Brenda Song grew up in Carmichael (a suburb of Sacramento). Her parents were born in Asia and met as adults in Sacramento. Her father is of Hmong descent who works as second-grade schoolteacher and her mother is of Thai/American descent who works as homemaker. She has two younger brothers named Timmy (three years younger) and Nathan (eight years younger). She moved with her mother to Los Angeles to support her acting career when she was six years old and the rest of the family followed two years later. Her paternal grandparents are from the Xiong clan, but changed their last name to Song when the family immigrated from Laos to the United States in 1976.


She had an relation with Israeli-American actor/musician Raviv Ullman from april 2006 until january 2007. She had an short-term relation with actor Aaron Musicant in 2007. She had an relation with actor/song writer Jesse McCartney from march 2007 until august 2008. She had an relation with American actor/musician Jason Dolley from october 2008 until september 2009. She was home-schooled since the fourth grade and earned a high school diploma when she was 16 years old. She was named an All-American Scholar in the ninth grade. She studied at a community college and online at the University of California in Berkeley, with a major in psychology and a minor in business. She first wanted to do ballet but switches to taekwondo training because her younger brother wanted to do this martial art also. She holds a black belt in taekwondo and is very talented.


She started her show business career as child fashion model in San Francisco after she is being spotted in a shopping mall by an agent from a modeling school when she was three years old. She appears in commercials of the brands Little Caesars and Barbie when she was five or six. There are several covershoots and articles about her in magazines as The Washington Post, The New York Times, People, Biliken, Other, Seventeen, Teenpeople.

She came through the auditions which led to her first film role in ''Requiem'' (1995) when she was seven years old. The film goes about a waitress/dancer named Fong who remembers her loving brother and their bittersweet childhood in Hong Kong. She played a young version of "Fong", who is portrayed as an adult by Tamlyn Tomita. Director Elizabeth Sung said that she was very focused, and it was very obvious that she loved what she was doing. She appeared in another short film called ''The White Fox'' which also is directed by Elizabeth Sung. She appeared in two episodes of the television program ''Thunder Alley'' and appears regular in the children's television series ''Fudge''. Her theatrical film debut was in Santa with ''Muscles'' (1996), a independent film starring professional wrestler Hulk Hogan. She signed a contract with Disney and appeared in the Disney Channel movie ''Get a Clue'' (2002).

Action Movie Career

She made her action movie debut as Californian teenager Wendy Wu who learns that she is the reincarnation of a legendary female warrior who destined is to protect the world in ''Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior'' (2006). She wants the title of homecoming queen but discovers that she first must learn the way of the warrior, before she can wear the coveted crown. She was trained into a fearless kung fu warrior by mysterious Chinese monk Shen (played by Shin Koyamada). She begins to train her mind, body and spirit in the ancient tradition of martial arts with result that her inner warrior gradually begins to emerge.

She plays Natalie in this story where no more violence and drugs are in New York City of the future, in their place are illegal dance contests which occur at the underground world of Boogie Town in the action movie ''Boogie Town'' (2012). Micha (played by Marques Houston) and Jay (played by Mykal Anthony Bean) are leaders of rival dancing crews, which acquires superpowers to take the contests to new levels. Micha falls in love with Jay's beautiful sister Natalie and the two become a future-day Romeo and Juliet, despite the animosity between the two gangs.
